Romanians established in Great Britain protested in London
Romanians established in Great Britain protested in London, in front of Channel 4 TV station, dissatisfied with the way in which this television’s journalists showed Romanian community in the United Kingdom. They wanted to respond to a controversial television documentary, whose first episode was already broadcasted, which showed a negative image of Romanians in the United Kingdom. Romanian protesters mobilized on Facebook following the release of the first episode of the documentary, „Romanians are coming”. Romanian community is unhappy because the producers chose to present the stories of three Romanians established in the United Kingdom, who live in poverty, without a stable job and without integrating. They are only isolated cases, says Delia Antal, actress and producer, who lives in London. The Foreign Ministry in Bucharest and Romania’s ambassador to London, Ion Jinga, also reacted following the release of the first episode of this controversial documentary, saying that it does not reflect an accurate picture of the Romanian community in the United Kingdom.
