Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, will participate today at the opening of the United States European Command (EUCOM) conference with defence ministers from Central Europe, reveals a statement of the Ministry of National Defence. During the conference, to be hosted by the National Military Centre, topics like security environment challenges, cooperation between allied armies at regional level and in NATO, combating threats at regional and global level and, also, the action plan to increase the operational capacity of the North Atlantic Alliance will be discussed. Prime Minister Victor Ponta assures that the government supports the Turkish businessmen who invest in Romania for all economic projects. During the Forum organized by the Chamber of Commerce, where the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was, also present, he said that the two countries want to strengthen their partnerships through joint projects in energy, infrastructure and agriculture. Romania and Turkey signed several agreements at Victoria Palace, including the establishment of a joint bilateral economic commission. The visit of the leader in Ankara was shortened due to a series of incidents in Istanbul, just a day after a taking hostages crissis, which ended with the death of a prosecutor and his kidnappers. Romania’s tennis player Simona Halep advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s singles semi-finals of the Miami Open WTA tennis tournament, after she defeated the American Sloane Stephens, 6-1, 7-5.
