Romanian President’s visit to Italy
President Klaus Johannis and his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella, discussed yesterday, in Rome, mainly about strengthening relations between the two countries, including the role that the Romanian community in Italy and the Italian one in Romania have in this context. It is time for Romania to be a part of Schengen, said during the talks with President Klaus Iohannis the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella. He reiterated his support and the Italian government’s support for Romania to achieve this goal. During the talks, the importance of economic and trade relations between the two countries was emphasized and also the potential for their enhancing. Klaus Iohannis met with the Italian Senate Speaker, Pietro Grasso, with whom he discussed about the reform process in the two countries. Romania’s President ended the first day of his visit to Rome with a meeting with representatives of the Romanian community in Italy. Klaus Iohannis told them that all parties have publicly committed to begin as soon as possible the debate on legislation which ensures the right to vote for Romanians abroad.

Romanian Foreign Ministry: There is no official information on the existence of any Romanian among the victims
Romanian Foreign Ministry identified so far 19 Romanian citizens in Nepal, who have been contacted and are unharmed. So far, there is no official information on the existence of any Romanian among the victims. In a press release the Ministry states that through the Embassy in India and the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Kathmandu continue the efforts to check the presence and condition of other Romanian citizens who would be in Nepal. Prime Minister Victor Ponta will meet today with the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, in Strasbourg
The leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Victor Ponta, will meet today with the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, in Strasbourg. The agenda will include, among other topics, „Juncker’s plan to reduce economic gaps”. According to information published on the official website of the European Commission, Victor Ponta has scheduled meetings with first vice-president of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans and the heads of European portfolios for justice and competition.
