World Bank launched Romania Secondary Education Project
World Bank launched yesterday Romania Secondary Education Project (ROSE), which will run for the next seven years. The project consists of a 200 million euros loan to the Government of Romania from the World Bank. 1,5 million young people in 1,100 high schools and 300 public universities will benefit from this project. The main objective is to increase the chances of those who wish to complete the tertiary education cycle, especially because due to school dropout the transition towards higher education is much lower. Romania’s National Day was also celebrated in United States through a series of events that have become tradition. This year the event had a special connotation, after the House of Representatives passed a resolution in which it is celebrated the anniversary of 135 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and the United States of America. The resolution stresses the substantial commitment that Romania has in NATO and the key role of an ally in NATO through Deveselu base, an important defense milestone against ballistic missiles, both for Europe and for the United States. A large proportion of older people in Romania are affected by loneliness
A large proportion of older people in Romania are affected by loneliness – a study of the Princess Margaret Foundation shows that nearly a million and a half elderly people have this problem. Besides the lack of an interlocutor, elderly people face financial and health problems. To help them, Princess Margaret Foundation launched Association „Never Alone – Friends of the Elderly”. Prince Radu stressed the permanent concern of the Royal House for this category of persons: „The Foundation’s concern on this issue has existed for a century and a half and in these 150 years and the social issues, or in relation to health, or in relation with the integration of different ages in dynamics’ present, never ceased to concern the Royal Family. How else could the family regard this age other than with interest and love, given that the family seniors have reached senescence. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
