On the occasion of the informal meeting on issues of foreign and security policy in Lithuania, Romanian Foreign Minister, Lazar Comanescu, discussed with Victoria Nuland, the American Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, about the situation in the region, focusing on developments in the Republic of Moldova. The agenda of the two diplomats included also the development of the Romanian-American Strategic Partnership, both in security and in the economic fields. Victoria Nuland will travel to Bucharest next week, where she will have a series of high-level meetings. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos will discuss with the Environment and Communications ministers, after yesterday he met with the ministers of Agriculture and Energy, to set priorities for 2016. In the energy sector, energy security and the completion of the national strategy in the field are among the major priorities. Regarding the development of agriculture, the Prime Minister insisted on accelerating the absorption of European funds, but also on rethinking the way in which the National Rural Development Programme will be implemented. Other priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture will be the irrigation system, in which one billion lei will be invested, research field and business consulting regulation. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
Romania celebrates the National Culture Day
Today, Romania celebrates the National Culture Day and 166 years since the birth of the poet Mihai Eminescu. The two events are marked by cultural institutions across the country. On Friday, the Romanian Academy begins a solemn session at which President Klaus Iohannis and Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church Daniel will be present. A show of traditional music and poetry performed by Grigore Lese and his guests will take place at the Romanian Athenaeum and the National Theatre Bucharest organizes a guided backstage tour of the new building, while in the foyer of Great Hall Eminescu’s poetry will be heard.
