Terrorism can be fought with the desire for peace and solidarity – said President Klaus Iohannis in Istanbul. What happened yesterday in Brussels shows that terrorism remained in the heart of Europe, also said Romanian President. „These attacks must be fought with our desire for peace”, said Klaus Iohannis, „our desire for cooperation, our solidarity in resolving the great problems we face in the region where we also live, Romanians and Turks”. Klaus Iohannis will visit today two places of worship in Istanbul – one belonging to the Romanian community in Turkey and one Muslim. In the afternoon Romanian President will meet with his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara and will lay a wreath at the site of the attack which took place on March 13th, in which more than 30 people were killed. All TAROM flights to and from Brussels were canceled
All TAROM flights to and from Brussels were canceled, announced the airline in a press release. The passengers with tickets for these flights will be accepted starting today, without any additional cost, for all flights operated by TAROM in Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich and London. According to Romanian airline, all passengers who were yesterday morning in the flight for Brussels, redirected to Amsterdam, landed safely. 28 Romanian passengers who were on their way to Brussels decided to return home following yesterday’s terrorist attacks, informed airport „Henri Coanda” spokeswoman, Dinu Georgeta. Romanian Foreign Ministry announces that a fourth Romanian citizen wounded in the attacks in Brussels was identified. The wounds are minor and he is currently under treatment in a hospital, assisted by a family member. The President of the Chamber of Deputies condemned the attacks in Brussels in a speech to the Parliament. Valeriu Zgonea believes that solidarity with Belgium must dominate in these days. „Once again”, said Valeriu Zgonea, „we face the consequences of such terrorist acts. Let us strongly condemn, as European citizens, the attacks in which people were killed. On behalf of the Romanian citizens, we stand together with the authorities and with Belgian citizens.
