Romania and the United States have an excellent level of military cooperation in joint naval projects, which are of particular importance in the current security environment, complex and unpredictable in Eastern Europe. The subject was addressed during the discussions that took place yesterday in Bucharest between Romanian Minister of National Defence Mihnea Motoc and United States Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. Mister Mabus reiterated Washington’s commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the naval forces of the two countries. Romanian official expressed confidence that the American support will also continue after the NATO summit in Warsaw in order to implement the decisions taken. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
German President Joachim Gauck visited the city of Sibiu
On a state visit to Romania German President Joachim Gauck welcomed the fact that in our country there are no significant extremist parties and explained that a series of successive crises, from the economic one to migration, have led to mistrust Europe is facing. In a speech yesterday German President said that politicians do not communicate enough the big European changes, fact that encourages populist movements. President Klaus Johannis explained, in Sibiu, that for Romanians the German minority has always been a landmark and a reliable partner and over the time Germans in Romania had a major contribution to strengthening and modernizing the Romanian state. In the city of Sibiu, German President praised the harmony that exists between German minority and Romanian majority and said he would like that a similar harmony to be in Europe too. Romania supports the United Kingdom remaining in the European Union, alongside the 28 European Union member states, said liberal senator Ben Oni Ardelean. In his opinion, EU countries can only meet the current challenges united. Ben Oni Ardelean: „We believe that this construction is one which can produce benefits. But together we can achieve more than we could achieve separately”. Secretary of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Ben Oni Ardelean, pointed out that after a trip made recently to London he found that most British citizens want United Kingdom to remain a member of the European Union.
