France awards Legion of Honour to Romanian physicist Nicolae Zamfir
Romanian physicist Nicolae Zamfir, director general of Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, was awarded the rank of the Officer of the Legion of Honor of the Republic of France. He is also the coordinator of the laser project at Magurele, which will be the strongest in the world and will help scientists to find answers to theoretical problems and applications for cancer treatment. Nicolae Zamfir told Radio Romania that the distinction is a recognition of the efforts made in Romania to implement this project. „For me”, said Nicolae Zamfir, „this Legion of Honor means very much. I am honored and we are all honored that we are appreciated for what we do not only by Romanians but also by other nations”. Legion of Honour is the highest French order established in1802 which compensates both French citizens and foreigners for outstanding achievements in their fields of activity. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
International conference on tourism held in Bucharest
An international conference on tourism will take place today in Bucharest. The event organized by National Authority for Tourism aims to help promote Romania’s image abroad, exchanges of information and good practices that ultimately will support the development of a coherent and effective vision of Romanian tourism growth. Secretary-General of World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai, Minister of Economy Costin Borc, president of the National Authority for Tourism Paul Anca Nedea and representatives of the tourism industry in the country and abroad will be present at this conference. Romania celebrates Justice Day on July 3rd
The government allocated today 30,000 lei for organizing manifestations on the occasion of Justice Day, which will be marked on July 3rd. In a statement the government said that the money come from the budget of Superior Council of Magistracy. The event marks the role and importance of the judicial power and it is a good opportunity to strengthen institutional relationships. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
