The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania issued several travel warnings for European countries which are affected by extreme weather phenomena until tomorrow, January 7. Thus, according to institution’s statement, in Denmark there will be strong winds and the coastal areas in south, central and east of the country will be at risk of flooding, where it is anticipated a sea level rise of up to 1.8 meters, a record in the last century. Wind gusts are also reported in Croatia, accompanied by snow, weather conditions which will remain until early next week. Road traffic is already difficult, in winter conditions, on most roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the authorities issued Orange Code for extreme minimum temperatures, wind and heavy snow. Warnings were also issued for similar conditions in Poland, Italy and Bulgaria. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

More than half of the country is affected by snow and strong blizzard. A Code Orange was issued for Bucharest and 11 counties in the south-east and a Yellow Code în another 15. Dozens of roads and Bucharest – Constanta highway A2 are closed and Constanta county is now completely isolated. Road traffic on Bucharest Ring Road and on Bucharest-Pitesti highway is in winter conditions with blizzard and with visibility reduced to only a few meters. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
Jiu Valley miners’ protest ended after the new energy minister promised to analyze people’s complaints
Jiu Valley miners’ protest ended after since yesterday morning the miners from Lupeni Coal Mine refused to enter underground and some of them even have been on hunger strike. None of their claims have been resolved but the new energy minister Thomas Petcu promised to analyze people’s complaints. Besides, Hunedoara Energy Complex (CEH) leadership said in a statement that miners’ refusal to enter into stopes due to lack of materials needed is justified, but the problem can not be solved provided that company’s accounts are blocked.
