Bucharest’s historical statues

When we arrived in Bucharest, what striked us were all those statues representing people who changed and developed Romanian culture. Indeed, most of those pictures are from Universitate Square:

Here you can see the statues of Ion Heliade Rădulescu, Gheorghe Lazăr, Spiru Haret and Mihai Viteazul on his horse, three intellectuals very important for the University and one of Romania’s greatest national heroes. Even when you don’t know those Romanian historical figures, the way they are sculpted makes you understand their role. And more, they are so impressive, you feel so small next to those statues so you understand their importance.

Also, you can see the same type of sculptures in front of the Carol I University Foundation.

So, to put it in a nutshell, you can feel that Romanians are proud of what they are and proud of their past and history.
