Romania’s economic growth will decrease to 4.5% in 2018, according to the European Commission’s forecast
Romania’s economic growth will decrease to 4.5% this year and to 4 percent next year, show the economic forecast of the European Commission published yesterday. Similar estimates also appear in the recent World Bank analysis. Instead, Romania’s National Prognosis Commission announced on Monday that it has revised up at 6.1% the projection of the economy’s advance this year. The European Commission has also found that the situation on the labor market has improved, the unemployment rate has reached the lowest level in the past two decades and that net average wage increased by about 13% in real terms. The Commission warns, however, that inflation has begun to increase in the second half of last year, due to rising food and energy prices. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that no agreement has been signed referring to a gas export from Romania to Hungary
Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu said that no agreement was signed that would refer to a gas export from Romania to Hungary or to other new energy projects, on the occasion of the recent visit of his Hungarian counterpart, Peter Szijjarto. In a press release, Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the status of the ongoing projects has been discussed without any new elements, such as ensuring the interconnection of the gas infrastructure. The reaction comes in the context in which the Hungarian news agency MTI reported two days ago that Romania has pledged to set the technical conditions for the export of natural gas to Hungary by 2020 and that it could deliver up to 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year on the Hungarian market.
