The authorities of Madagascar have accepted the extradition request of the former Mayor of Constanţa, Radu Mazăre, sentenced to 9 years in prison. He is to be brought to Romania under escort in the shortest time, according to the interim Justice Minister, Ana Birchall. Radu Mazăre was detained in Madagascar eight days ago. He had been prosecuted internationally by Interpol, being sought to enforce the final sentence given to him in a file in which he illegally returned land to the seaside. In another case of corruption, the former mayor has received a conviction, but it is not final. The former mayor ran away from Romania in December 2017, accusing supposed political pressures in his criminal trials./opopescu
The Chamber of Deputies amended legislation on public road traffic in relation to radars location
Radars mounted in vehicles that do not have police records or are not located in visible places are about to be outlawed. The Chamber of Deputies has thus amended the legislation on public road traffic in order to bring it into line with recent decisions of the Constitutional Court. Road police officers are also obliged to use radar guns only at a distance of no more than 10 meters from the police car. It was also abolished the stipulation that for minor offenses in the amount of up to 20 fine points, the infringer can pay the spotting agent half of the minimum fine provided by the law. Changes are to be sent to the President for promulgation. They resemble those adopted a few months ago, which forced the police to pre-notify the radar equipment. Then, President Klaus Iohannis notified the Constitutional Court, which ruled that the bill was unconstitutional./opopescu
