President Iohannis has welcomed the EU support for Laura Codruta Kovesi as Head of the European Prosecutor’s Office
President Klaus Iohannis has welcomed the EU ambassadors’ vote in favour of Laura Codruta Kovesi’s candidacy to become Chief Prosecutor at the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO). He has said that the majority of votes received by Kovesi confirm the skills, experience and qualification of the former head of the Romanian Anti-corruption Directorate. „The result is an important victory for Romania”, the president says in a statement, adding: „especially that it came in spite of the fact that the PSD government has permanently tried to block the candidacy of a professional, recognized for her fight against corruption and in defence of the rule of law.”
