The Orban government was dismissed
The government led by Ludovic Orban has fallen, after the censorship motion initiated by the PSD and the UDMR was accepted today by the parliament after more than two hours of debate. Alina Stănuță has the latest details, from the Parliament Palace.
Reporter: In favor of the censorship motion, 261 MPs voted, and against it 139, which means that the Orban government was ousted. The result of the vote was received with applause here in the plenary of the Parliament. Earlier, during the debate on the motion of censure, the dismissed prime minister, Ludovic Orban, told the PSD that they are not being judged by them and that the censorship motion is submitted by social-democrats because they are afraid of democracy. The PNL president said that it was necessary to issue several Emergency Ordinances yesterday to solve the problems of the Romanians generated by the former PSD government. The ones from PSD, through the voice of the interim president, Marcel Ciolacu, blamed the resigned prime minister, Ludovic Orban, that a country cannot be ruled by employing responsibilities and dozens of Emergency Ordinances or with huge loans. The PNL agenda means, in Marcel Ciolacu’s opinion, an abuse of power, and in three months of government, PNL has brought chaos and instability. Therefore, following the vote, the Orban government was dismissed and President Klaus Iohannis is expected to open consultations with the parliamentary parties to appoint a prime minister.
Consultations will be held for the appointment of a new candidate for the position of prime minister
The government was today dismissed by parliament through a censure motion. As a result, consultations are underway for the appointment of a new candidate for the position of prime minister. President Klaus Iohannis will soon invite parliamentary parties for discussion. The head of state will make a statement at 6:30 pm, which the RRA will broadcast live. The Social Democrats have announced that they will negotiate with Pro Romania in an attempt to find a common proposal for the chief executive’s position. The PNL will also make a proposal for the prime minister, which will be a liberal one, but not a sacrificial one, say party representatives. With the adoption of the censorship motion, the law on the election of mayors in two rounds, for which the government had committed its responsibility, is considered rejected. Therefore, the current legislation remains in force, with only one poll.
