President Klaus Iohannis has called on Romanians abroad to stay there on Easter
The Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, has called on the Romanians living abroad to refrain from coming in the county on Easter and has reminded them that their visit could pose a danger for themselves and their loved ones. Also, the President has asked public order employees operating at the borders and inside the country to be vigilant and monitor the observance of all restrictions imposed in order to counter the coronavirus outbreak. Mr. Iohannis also had a message for citizens at home, telling them to understand that this year they will not be able to celebrate the Resurrection in churches.
Most Romanians have made changes to their way of life because of the coronavirus pandemic
The coronavirus outbreak has changed the daily habits and has impacted at least nine out of ten Romanians. Most behavioral changes are related to social distancing and hygiene measures, according to a study conducted by Market Opportunity Research. The survey shows that 82% of Romanians are washing and disinfecting their hands more often and 75% have avoided public places. Social distancing measures are felt like a limitation of individual rights. The measures have restricted movement for seven out of ten Romanians. Moreover, four out of ten persons had to postpone or even give up their personal plans. The study was conducted between 26 and 28th of March, with a 95% confidence level.
Carmaker Ford has confirmed that it extends the decision to temporary suspend production of vehicles and engines
The Carmaker Ford has confirmed on Friday that it will extend the temporary suspension of vehicle and engine production at most of its European factories until the 4th of May, at the earliest. According to a press release by the company, most of Ford Craiova employees will go into furlough until April 30th. Renault Romania has also announced the extension of the furlough for its employees at the Mioveni industrial platform, without specifying a date when the production process could resume. The furlough was initially announced to last until April 5th, when employees will receive 85% of their wage.
