BNR’s Robor down
Romanian National Bank (BNR)’s index Robor went down to 2.15 percent from its previous 2.17 percent reached on Friday, according to a BNR statement on Monday. The three-month Robor index stood at 3.19. In January-April, the non-residents’ direct investement in Romania posted a negative net value of € 454 million when compared with a positive value of € 2.161 million in January-April 2019, of which equity (including net investment in earnings) reached € 33 million while intercompany lending recorded a negative value of € 487 million. In January-April 2020, total external debt increased by € 683 million.
Tarom partially resumes flights
Romania’s national air company Tarom resumes flights on several routes in the European Union. Flights to Greek capital Athens are expected to resume normally as similar commercial flights will resume to Austria’s capital Vienna and German cities of Frankfurt and Munich. Special flights are also scheduled this week to Amsterdam in the Netherlands as well as to Barcelona and Madrid in Spain, Brussels in Belgium, and UK’s London. Europe is reopening its doors to holidaymakers in the largest lifting of lockdown restrictions since the beginning of the pandemic. Travellers on the continent will now be able to move freely between most of the 22 EU countries in the Schengen area, but some nations, including Spain, have decided to keep restrictions.
Bucharest areas left without hot water
Buildings in sector 1, 3, and 6 of Romania’s capital Bucharest were left without hot water on Monday following damages to some of the city’s district heating network. 237 buildings in sector 1, 23 in sector 3, and 324 in the sector 6 of the capital are currently left without hot water. Hot water supply is expected to resume on Wednesday at midnight, according to official sources. All businesses and homes use hot water supply while considerable health and financial implications are associated with the suply and use of hot water.
