The first drive-thru vaccination center opened in Bucharest, in Constitution Square
From the early hours of the morning, dozens of cars lined up in Constitution Square in Bucharest, where a vaccination center was opened directly from the car. It operates daily between 8:00 and 20:00. The center has four streams, and the vaccine is administered by Pfizer. Those who want to immunize do not need programming in the platform, but only the identity card. At the opening of the center in Bucharest, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health, Andrei Baciu, was also present.
Andrei Baciu: Basically a mechanism that increases access to vaccination for all those who may have a busier schedule and may find it difficult, I do not know exactly what day will come, will miss the vaccination schedule, if they are in locality or not. Therefore, for these people this approach is much more useful, much more handy. We see that there are already several dozen people waiting for vaccination in this center. There are enough doses right now for everyone who wants to get vaccinated. The booster can be carried out at this center or at another vaccination center using the same type of vaccine. An additional novelty would be that, starting yesterday, the change of the recall center can be done also in the programming platform.
New drive-thru vaccination centers are already operating in several large cities in the country, yesterday one was opened in Arad, following the model of those in Deva or Cluj-Napoca. Private companies also organize immunization centers. According to the authorities, almost 80 companies have set up such centers where about 5.000 people have been vaccinated so far.
