The French defense minister has thanked „Romanian friends” for their commitment in the Takuba operation in Sahel
The French defense minister Florence Parly has welcomed Romania’s decision to sent 45 troops to take part in the Takuba operation to support Tle Malian forces in Sahel. Romania’s help has come as France is counting on this mobilization in order to reduce its forces in the region. „We thank our Romanian friends for their engagement”, the French official has said. Romanian senators and deputies have approved on Wednesday the draft law on Romania’s participation in the European Task Force Mission Takuba in Sahel, under French supervision, starting in the fourth semester of 2021.
Romania has vaccinated almost a quarter of the general population
Romania has so far vaccinated almost a quarter of it general population, according to the coordinator of the anti-COVID vaccination campaign, dr. Valeriu Gheorghita. He added that most people were vaccinated in Bucharest – around 45% and the city of Cluj, with more than 41%. Meanwhile, the country has reported 87 new COVID-19 cases, out of more than 27,000 tests performed in the last 24 hours. There were also 87 deaths. 186 people are currently in Intensive Care Units after falling il with COVID-19.
Seven human trafficking suspects were detained by Romanian Police, coordinated by Europol
Seven citizens suspected of human trafficking were found by police following checks carried out under Europol auspices at airports, border crossing points, bus or train stations and shopping centers in the country. Ten victims of labor exploitation were also found. A statement says that police has checked more than 10,000 people, more than 3,000 vehicles and 73 locations, between May 31 and June 4.
