Three survivors of the Pogrom in the Romanian city of Iasi have been decorated by President Klaus Iohannis
The Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, has decorated three survivors of the Iasi Pogrom – Musi-Mihail Cernea, Jehuda Evron şi Moshe Yassur – who have received the National Knight Ranking Order for Faithful Service. The three have been decorated as a sign of utmost respect for the suffering they endured during the Second World War, for their high moral tenure in life and their effort to keep alive the memory of Holocaust victims – a tragedy that humanity must never see again – a statement by the Presidential Administration says.
Around a million Romanians have applied for residency in the United Kingdom
Wednesday, June 30, was the last day when European Union citizens were able to submit residency requests that would allow them to stay legally in the United Kingdom after it left the bloc. So far, 5.6 million European citizens have submitted such requests and almost a million of them are Romanians. The Labor Party has asked for the deadline to be extended, but the government in London has refused. It has said, though, that late requests might still be accepted, but only for justified reasons.
New measures of COVID relaxation come into force on Thursday
As of Thursday, July the 1st, Romanians will be able to take part in all king of fairs and hotels, hostels and fitness centers are allowed to welcome customers to their maximum availability. Restaurants and cafes will be opened until 2 am, at maximum capacity, but clubs and bars are maintaining the restriction to receive only vaccinated customers. Events such as weddings, christening parties and anniversaries will be allowed with 100 guests indoors and 150 outdoors. The number of guests may increase to 300, if all the people invited could prove they are vaccinated, have recovered from COVID-19 of have a negative COVID test.
