Romanian authorities encourage immunization with the same type of anti-COVID-19 serum for the first and second dose, announced dr. Valeriu Ghorghiţă, coordinator of the national vaccination campaign. The recommendation refers to the serum produced by AstraZeneca and is based on results of the evaluation made by Health Ministry specialists, sustained by clinical studies still in process in Germany, Spain and Great Britain. Valeriu Ghorghiţă also said that an exception can be made for people who developed serios forms of thrombosis after the first vaccine dose. He also mentioned that the evaluation is still running.

Members of the European Parliament will launch a new appeal to the European Council to allow Romania and Bulgaria in the Schengen Area and debates on this matter will take place this evening at Strasbourg. Last week, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Slovenia, Aleš Hojs, whose country has taken the rotating presidency of the European union, said that he totally backs Romania and Bulgaria to become full-fledged members of the Schengen Area. When the matter gains full consensus, it will be raised before the Council of Justice and Internal Affairs, where there still is some skepticism.

Initially, they had been taken to the Floreasca Hospital, in Bucharest. Both patients have burns on almost 35% of the body. Another worker who was wounded in the same incident, hospitalized in Constanţa, began walking and recovering rapidly, after undertaking a hip surgery. Prosecutors have initialized a penal file for accusations of homicide, physical injury and destruction, following an explosion at the Petromidia refinery, resulting in the death of one person and wounding of five employees.
