The President of Romania to convene the CSAT meeting on the security situation in Afghanistan
The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis convened for Wednesday a meeting of the Supreme Council of National Defense, at the Cotroceni Palace. The meeting agenda includes the security situation in Afghanistan and its implications for Romania. However, Afghans who have worked for Westerners have serious reasons to fear retaliation. Romania, along with other countries, is making efforts to help those afghans, given that access to Kabul airport is difficult. The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu explained on Monday that it is about the personnel that collaborated with the Romanian troops and about the Afghan students who received scholarships in Romania. Each European state is assessing the number of refugees from Afghanistan they could received on humanitarian basis.
