The Romanian Language Day
Romania is celebrating its official language today – the Day of the Romanian Language – which is also marked in the neighboring country, Republic of Moldova. The celebration was established in 2013 in Romania and was first adopted in Chisinau, during the national renaissance movement at the end of 1980s. The first rights that the Besserabian people have asked then were related to the Romanian language and the Latin alphabet. Consequently, the Supreme Soviet at the tome has adopted the law that declared the Romanian language as an official language and the return to the Latin alphabet.
