Romania has passed the 1,400 mark of new COVID-19 infections
Romania has passed the mark of 1,400 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, the authorities have reported 1,443 cases, out of almost 43,000 tests – a positivation rate of 3.36%. Most new cases were in the capital Bucharest – 269. All counties have reported COVID cases, but none had more than 100. 2,455 patients are currently treated of COVID-19 in hospitals and 293 of then are admitted to Intensive Care Units. Another 21 people have died after contracting COVID-19.
2021 was a better year for tourism in Romania than 2020
Tour operators in Romania say that this year was much better than 2020 as far as income is concerned, but only the seaside resorts have reached the level of tourists seen in 2019. Domestic tourism has also suffered from the lack of holiday vouchers withheld by the government this year. Operators also complain that the Tourism Ministry and the other state agencies did not promote Romanian attractions to foreign tourists. As far as prices are concerned, representatives of the tourism sector in Romania say that they were only adjusted to cover inflation.
Romanian citizens will only be allowed to enter Bulgaria based of a European Covid Digital Certificate
As of Wednesday at midnight, Romanian citizens could enter Bulgaria based on a COVID Digital Certificate which proves the vaccination or the recovery from COVID-19 or with a negative coronavirus test. People that transit the Bulgarian territory are exempted from this rule, provided that they guarantee to immediately leave Bulgaria. Also, children under the age of 12 ale also exempted. Romanian citizens are allowed to enter Bulgaria only through crossing points with Bulgarian medical personnel: Giurgiu, Calafat, Bechet, Turnu Magurele, Vama Veche.
