The Education Minister, Sorin Cîmpeanu, is going to announce this morning the way the schools will function starting next week. He said yesterday that in order to be able to resume physical education courses, an educational unit should have at least 60% of the vaccinated staff. Instead, several student associations in the country, including those in Constanța, Maramureș, Bacău, Vâlcea, Bucharest and Ilfov, have spoken out against this measure and call for the opening of schools in physical format only in localities where the incidence of COVID cases is less than 6 per thousand inhabitants./opopescu

Interest in vaccination continues to decline in our country. For several days, the latest report indicates that only about 43,000 Romanians took the first dose in 24 hours, less than half the record set last week. Currently, almost 37% of Romanians have the complete vaccination scheme. Meanwhile, a new record of COVID patients admitted to Intensive Care – 1,902 was registered. And the number of deaths reported daily remains very high, yesterday beeing 489. Among those who died are two young women aged 21 and 28, respectively, unvaccinated. Three vaccination marathons are taking place in Hunedoara County this weekend. These are organized in Deva, Hunedoara and Petroşani, and the administered serums are those produced by Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. The centers will be open until 21:00 and even more if needed.
