The pace of the national vaccination campaign remains low
The pace of the national vaccination campaign remains low. Less than 6,800 people have started an immunization scheme in the last 24 hours. One of the most used sera in Romania is Johnson & Johnson, which for several days is in first place in terms of the number of doses administered to newly vaccinated people. In total, almost 1.9 million people have opted for this serum so far. Meanwhile, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has decided that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, in which the full schedule is considered a single dose, can be given a second time to people over the age of 18. According to AFP, the EMA recommendation also includes the possibility of it being used as a booster, after the completion of the complete scheme with the sera produced based on messenger RNA, ie Pfizer or Moderna. Commemorative events in Timisoara to mark 32 years since the beginning of the ’89 Revolution
On December 16, 1989, the revolution that led to the fall of the communist regime began in Timișoara. The tone was set on the evening of December 15, when hundreds of people gathered in front of the house of the reformed pastor László Tőkés. He was to be evacuated and moved to a parish in the country. Today, events are scheduled in Timisoara to mark the 32 years since the beginning of the ’89 Revolution.
Reporter – Alina Bujancă: The flame of the revolution ignited in Maria Square, where the trams were stopped, and the demonstrators lined up and went to the center, chanting slogans against the totalitarian regime. Then the first arrests were made, so that the next day, on December 17, the fire could be opened on the protesters.
Extensive commemorative events are scheduled today in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom. At the Revolution Memorial is Open Day. There will be a memorial service, and students from 15 schools will lay wreaths at the monuments of the heroes. At 12:00, the festive meeting of the Local Council is scheduled. In the afternoon there will be a screening of „Remember ’89”. From 18:00, the Candles of Immortality will be lit in Victoriei Square, and the Poli Gallery will organize the march „Heroes never die”. The evening will end with the Folk for Revolution concert with Mircea Baniciu. At midnight, the Holy Mass will be celebrated with vigil, in anticipation of tomorrow, when, in Timișoara, there will be a day of mourning in memory of the martyred heroes.
