More than 18.500 Ukrainian citizens entered Romania on Saturday

More than 18.500 Ukrainian citizens entered Romania yesterday, an increase of 30% compared to the previous day, the Border Police informs.

Almost 8.500 Ukrainian citizens entered Romania through the border with Ukraine, and another 7.700 through the border with the Republic of Moldova. According to the quoted source, more than 9.600 Ukrainians left Romania, an increase of 32%.

The structures of the Border Police registered, yesterday, 168 requests of protection sent to the Romanian state, being taken over by the representatives of the General Inspectorate for Immigration.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, approximately 43.000 citizens from the neighboring country have entered Romania and more than 20.000 have left.

During the same period, 222 asylum applications were registered at the borders, the Border Police also mentioned.
