The tragedy in Ukraine and the wave of refugees fleeing the war has made Romanians to mobilize and do their best to help their neighbors. Apart from food, clothing and shelter, there is also a need for medical support for children, mothers and grandparents who have came to our country. The OncoHelp Association – OncoHelp Oncology Center is at the forefront of those who rally aid for these people, some of them seriously ill, who need long-term and timely treatment in order to survive. The OncoHelp Oncology Center Timisoara offers free medical services such as oncology, radiotherapy, hematology, upper and lower digestive endoscopy and medical imaging to Ukrainian refugees. „Our primary mission has been to help cancer patients fight against an enemy that often is extremely aggressive. They are part of the most vulnerable category of people, and giving up treatments or postponing them, due to their situation could be fatal for them. Many of those who have been forced to flee their homes are now without treatment. And cancer patients not only need accommodation, food or a few tablets, but they also need chemotherapy or even radiation therapy. The OncoHelp Association has always been in the front line and has offered its support. That’s what we do now. Our doctors will offer free consultations to refugees who need oncological investigations, and our radiotherapy colleagues can help them continue their treatment”, Dr. Valeriu Ioan Boruga, manager of the OncoHelp Association, has said.
Moreover, the OncoHelp Association – OncoHelp Oncology Center can provide accommodation to ten Ukrainian refugee families.
The OncoHelp Oncology Center has made several telephone numbers available to refugees in need of treatment, that were shared with authorities, organizations and non-governmental associations that manage and offer support for the humanitarian crisis at Romania’s borders. These numbers are 0256/495 403; 0356/460 995 or 0753/595959.
