Residents of the city of Iaşi who want to express their solidarity with the Ukrainian people are invited on Saturday, March 12-th, 2022, from 15.00, in the pedestrian area Ștefan cel Mare, in front of the Iași City Hall. This is an initiative of the President of Eurocities, Dario Nardella, the Mayor of Florence, adopted also by the Association of Romanian Municipalities, an organization in which Mayor Mihai Chirica holds the position of Vice President. The intention of the initiators is for this demonstration of solidarity to take place on the same day in front of the town halls of the big cities of Europe. The urge for participants is to post as many photos as possible on social media, using the hashtag #CitiesWithUkraine. Cities such as Bologna, Braga, Florence, Milan, Marseille, Nice, Rotterdam and Rome have already joined this call, but all cities are invited to join this common moment of solidarity with Ukraine, whether or not they are members of Eurocities. Eurocities is a network of major European cities established in 1986 by the mayors of Barcelona, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Lyon, Milan and Rotterdam. Eurocities includes more than 200 major cities in 38 European countries, bringing together around 130 million people. Eurocities also includes four major Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Kharkov, Lviv and Odessa./opopescu
