Several students from the Department of Social Assistance of the Western University help refugees at Sighetu Marmaţiei, both with food and basic necessities but also with advice and counseling. The young volunteered to leave Timişoara and help the people fleeing the shells. In addition to their professional experience, they listen daily to life stories, the dramas of those who take refuge in Romania and ask for the help of the locals. For Daria, the last night was a long one. Şhe assisted dozens of people who crossed the custom point at Sighetu Marmaţiei from Ukraine to Romania. People are fleeing the war and want to know they are safe, says the volunteer from the Department of Social Assistance of the West University of Timişoara.
Daria’s colleagues are also exhausted. Sorana has just started college and is already on the front lines to help refugees. Tears always appear, but they gather quickly and get to work. Their teacher, Cosmin Goian, is in constant contact with them. He also received testimonies from young people about what they saw and lived at the custom point with the refugees. Both Daria and Sorana will remain at Sighetu Marmaţiei for at least another week. In total, more than 30 young people from UVT volunteered to help Ukrainians who reach the border with Romania./opopescu
