The Iaşi County Council has met in an extraordinary session on Tuesday and approved a decision to allocate 107 seats at the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection Iaşi (DGASPC) in order to accommodate unaccompanied refugee children from Ukraine.
Moreover, at social units of the DGASPC, 28 places for mothers and children in need have been provided, as well as 57 places for disabled adults among Ukrainian refugees. The decision also sets out enhanced spending for such social services.
„We are facing the largest humanitarian crisis in Europe. Thousands of innocent people depend on our help and we cannot remain indifferent to the drama they are going through. All institutions under the authority of the County Council are proactive in welcoming and supporting the citizens of Ukraine. The DGASPC, in particular, due to the specific nature of its activity, is directly involved in finding ways to integrate into our community those who take refuge here. I’m glad we have found the means to help them,” County Council President Costel Alexe has said.
