Senator Robert Porter, on a visit in Romania, praised the alliance and friendship his country has with Romania
One of the Republican leaders of the US Congress, Senator Robert Portman, who made a visit in Romania at the end of last week, praised the alliance and friendship between his country and Romania, as well as their shared values demonstrated in the support for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Senator Portman also praised the energetic policy of Romania and expressed his hope that The United States will help finance the implementation of mall nuclear reactors in our country.
Robert Portman: “There is no stronger friend of The United States than Romania. We have a real alliance and friendship. In a moment when the region is tested, when Russia manifests its aggressive tendencies, friendship is more important than ever. I speak for all Americans when I say that we are very grateful for the way Romania welcomed one million Ukrainian refugees”
Talking about war crimes and atrocities committed by Russia, Senator Robert Portman emphasized that The United State and Romania defend together the values of democracy and freedom, as well as the sovereignty of Ukraine. The Republican senator insisted that the entire region has reasons to support Ukraine, because if Russians were to win this conflict, there is a risk that they move forward.
Robert Portman: If Russians win in Ukraine, in my opinion, there is a risk of them crossing to Transnistria, then Moldova and you would be next. I think it is important that you continue to do what you do, that is to oppose Russian aggression against a sovereign, independent country that, just the same as Romania, is a democracy that wants to look to the West.”
