PSD claims that capping fuel prices would be a better solution
Although the measure to compensate the price at the pump seems to have been agreed in the governing coalition, shortly after the prime minister’s announcement, PSD released a statement, in which it says that the cap would have been better. „We respect the prime minister’s decision,” the Social Democrats said, „but if prices rise again we will return to the coalition with a proposal for a maximum price or a limit on trade surcharges”.
„This is not the time for political competition on issues that have an impact on people’s lives,” Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă said in an interview for RRA. He explained that the 50-euro reduction is a balanced measure that the state can support together with companies in the field. The head of state is of the same opinion, declaring that the executive resorted to the only measure he could support financially during this period. PSD’s proposals cannot be applied, nor can the reduction of excise duties on fuels, said President Klaus Iohannis. (RADIO ROMANIA NEWS)/aboboc
