Statement of Romanian Finance Minister Florin Câciu
Romania saw a growth by 5.8 percent in the first two quarters of the year as a result of higher investments and employment, Finance Minister Adrian Câciu said in an online post on Wednesday.The figure is well above the Romanian government’s summer forecaasts of 3.5% for the whole of 2022 Foreign direct investments increased by 43.7 percent in the first seven months of the year at 5.5 billion euros as compared to the 3.83 billion in the same period last year. Mr. Câciu said that further efforts were made to help businesses reach aid schemes. Further plans are also expected to focus on countering inflation, the minister said.
Goverment meeting on education issues
A Romanian government meeting on education issues was scheduled on Wednesday. Talks were expected to focus on projects designed to support schoolchildren and children of preschool age while also stimulating school performance. Preschoolers and students from 350 education units are expected to receive a support this year consisting in a hot meal or another food package of RON 15 A government ruling on Wednesday is aimed at stimulating performances in pre-university education. Students receiving a first prize are expected to get a RON 1,000 award with RON 700 and RON 500 awards for the next two winners. Romanian winners of international competitions will receive RON 7,500 with prizes between RON 6,000 and RON 20,000 for winners of world competitions.
Romanian Academy headquarters under major restauration works
Headquarters of Romania’s Academy will be subject to major restauration works, academy officials said on Wednesday. The project will also include a museum and a new 8,500 square meter auditorium while also restoring the administration offices around. A contract will be signed between the Romanian Academy President and the head of the National Investment Company at a price of RON 125 million. Estimated restauretion process is expected to take some 36 months. The Academy headquarters were built between 1911 and 1923. Established in 1867, the Bibilioteca Academiei Române (Library of Romania’s Academy) has a collection of over seven million books and collections of drawings, engravings, maps, and coins. The Academy also operates its own publishing house
