At the summit in Brussels, President Klaus Iohannis said that, on the long term, solutions must be found to have enough energy, at decent prices. President Iohannis said that the European Commission’s proposal, aiming at countering high energy prices is a good one and that Romania agrees to the new proposed measures.
The chief of state underlined that a plan for the future is needed, because subventions and extraordinary measures cannot be applied on long term. He referred, in this context, to diversifying energy resources, green energy or gas exploitation in the Black Sea.

The Dutch Parliament voted a resolution that asks the Government in the Hague to take caution in allowing Romania and Bulgaria to join Schengen area. The document asks the executive led by Mark Rutte not to take an irreversible step concerning extending the Schengen area, until it makes more investigations concerning the border surveillance by both countries. Prime Minister Rutte spoke in front of the parliament and reiterated that there are no principal objections concerning Romania and Bulgaria joining the Schengen area. He added that a monitoring update of The Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification (CVM) is needed.

Almost 60% of Romanians say that their financial situation has gotten worse compared to last year, according to the quarterly financial barometer by FinZoom, oat the request of CEC Bank. The proportion of those affected is 10% higher than in the previous surveys. Perspectives for next year are also worse compared to the first half of the year. 55% of Romanians expect their financial situation to get worse, compared to a previous average of just 40%./aionita
