The number of electric and hybrid cars registered in Romania has increased in 2022
The number of electric and hybrid cars registered in Romania increased last year, reaching a market share of almost 22 percent of the total, according to the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers. The first five best-selling all-electric cars were Dacia Spring, with almost 7,000 units, followed by Tesla, Volkswagen, Hyundai and Renault. In the case of hybrid cars, Toyota dominated the ranking of registrations last year. At the same time, the numbers of sold cars running on gasoline continued to decline, as did cars equipped with diesel engines. Statistical data also show that the majority of car purchases were made by legal entities, representing almost 60 percent of the total.
Humanitarian aid from United States bound for Ukraine was donated by means of the Romanian hub in Suceava
American humanitarian aid for Ukraine was donated for the first time through the Romanian hub in Suceava – the United States Embassy in Bucharest has announced. The aid consists of about 30 trucks loaded with clothes, shoes, beds, personal hygiene products, diapers, blankets and emergency kits, as part of the campaign launched in March 2022 in the state of Utah. So far, 40 tons of material goods have been collected, worth almost one million dollars, as well as as financial aid of four million dollars.
Romania’s annual inflation rate was 16.4% in December
The annual inflation rate in Romania was 16.4% in December, slightly lower compared to November last year, and consumer prices increased by 0.4%. The data published by the National Institute of Statistics show that the price of food product has increased by 22.05%, while non-food goods saw a rise in prices by 14.95%, and services by 9.78%. The same data show that the index of consumer prices,which is an indicator to determine inflation at the level of European Union member states has reached 100.12% in December last year. The Romanian National Bank has increased the inflation forecast for the end of this year to 16.3% and is estimating an inflation of over 11% for the end of next year.
