Romania has stood and continues to stand with The Republic of Moldova and firmly condemns any attempt of destabilization coming from outside the country, said president Klaus Iohannis in a message sent yesterday. The chief of state considers the public signals regarding attempts of the Russian Federation to illegitimately intervene to overthrow democratic and constitutional order of the Republic of Moldova to be of great concern. The place of The Republic of Moldova is in the great family of the European Union said the Romanian president, who mentioned that this road is irreversible and must be followed with consistency, courage and ambition.

A number of 200 aftershocks followed the 5,7-magnitude earthquake two days ago in Gorj district, the biggest in this seismic area, according to the National Institute of Development and Research for Earth Physics. The area where the earthquake took place is known for a low to moderate seismic activity, with very rare events that surpass 5 degrees. The earthquake has been felt in Oltenia, Banat, Hunedoara, North-Easter Serbia and North-Western Bulgaria. 22 towns and cities in five districts (Gorj, Dolj, Hunedoara, Mehedinţi and Vâlcea) have been affected. Several emergency calls have been made, to signal medical problems, panic attacks or wounds caused by construction elements that have fallen and some people have been taken to the hospital. Dozens of buildings and cars have been damaged.

The hospitality industry in Timişoara is getting ready to welcome tourists in the following weekend, at the official opening of the programs dedicated to The European Capital of Culture. It is estimated that approximately 16,000 people will participate to the events. Until now, 80% of the accommodation places have already been reserved. While the problem of the lack of workforce persists, economic operators in HORECA have hired personnel from outside the country, especially Asia.
