Romania and president Klaus Iohannis prepare to host, on Wednesday, in Bucharest, a summit and a business forum of the Three Sees Initiative, a political platform that reunites 12 countries surrounding The Black, Adriatic and Baltic Sees. The main subjects of the discussions will be promoting the economical growth and the strategical interconnection of the member states but also redefining the Initiative’s relation with its surroundings, now geopolitically reshaped. In this context, marked by the war led by Rusia in Ukraine, this year, in Bucharest, Greece will be coming with a full member status in the organization, while Ukraine and The Republic of Moldova will be present as associated states.
Klaus Iohannis: In the geopolitical context created by the war in Ukraine, the Initiative has gained importance and I think that it must become an even more important platform in consolidating the regional and European resilience. For the summit on September the 6th, Romania has a series of objectives, including reconfirming confirming the role of the initiative in promoting an economic growth, building strategic connection and redefining the initiative’s relationship with its newly geopolitically reshaped surroundings.
The United States of America have reiterated its strong support for the objectives of the Three Sees Initiative but also its availability to closely collaborate with partner countries to advance this format, and the special envoy for climate issues John Kerry will lead the American delegation at the summit in Bucharest.

The responsible structures of the defense minister have monitored in real time the situation generated by the Russian drone attacks last night on the Ukrainian port Reni, on the Danube. At no pint in time the attack weapons used by the Russian Federation generated direct military threats to the Romanian national territory or the territorial waters, according to a declaration from the minister of defense. The institution reassures that it took enhanced measures in our national territory, on land, sea and air, according to national and allied plans.
Romanian students won four medals at the International Informatics Olympics
This year, Romanian students have won three silver and one bronze medal at the International Informatics Olympics. The Society for Excellency ad Performance in Informatics announced that the prize awarding ceremony for the 35th edition of the Olympics took place in Szeged, in Hungary, attended by over 300 competitors from 90 countries. The silver medals were won by Alexandru Raul Todoran, from Orăştie, Luca Perju-Verzotti, from Bucharest and Andrei Robert Ion, from Bucharest. Alexandru Luchianov, from Bucharest, won the bronze medal. Romania comes second on the world chart of distinctions gained over time at the International Informatic Olympics with 127 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 36 bronze medals. China is on the first place.
