Romania has inaugurated the European Training Center for F-16 aircraft
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has welcomed the opening in Romania of the European Training Center for F-16 aircraft. In a post on a social network, he thanked President Klaus Iohannis and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for putting into practice the agreements related to the training of Ukrainian pilots for F-16s. On the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius this summer, Romania signed a joint declaration to set up an international coalition made up of 11 states to train the Air Force of Ukraine. Previously, the Supreme National Defense Council had approved the establishment of a training facility for Romanian Air Force personnel who operate F-16 aircraft and for the benefit of navigational personnel from allied and NATO partner states, including Ukraine.
86 more Romanian citizens evacuated from Gaza have arrived in the country
Another 86 Romanians and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, have arrived in the country this morning. They crossed into Egypt on Sunday, through the Rafah border point, and were assisted by members of the Crisis Cell from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In total, 220 Romanians have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip so far. Meanwhile, diplomats from Bucharest are continuing the dialogue with the Israeli and Egyptian authorities, in order to facilitate the return of the other Romanian citizens. However, due to the complex security situation in the region, evacuation plans must be continuously adapted, so as not to endanger the safety of people.
President Klaus Iohannis has begun an African tour with a visit to Kenya
The Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is in Kenya, at the beginning of a tour in four African states. O Tuesday he is due to have talks with his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto and with the Executive Director of the United Nations environmental program. The two heads of state will discuss about cooperation in important areas for both countries, such as environmental protection and combating climate change, education, digitalization and green energy. Several official documents will be signed on areas such as environment and agricultural research, as well as political cooperation between the two countries. Kenya is an example of political stability and democratic transition in East Africa. It is also an economic, financial and transport hub for the entire region, and also a partner of the United States of America and the European Union. On the Romanian President’s agenda on Tuesday there are also meetings at the headquarters of the United Nations Organization in Nairobi, as well as discussions with the Executive Director of the UN environmental program. The head of state will also lay a wreath at the Mausoleum of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first president.
