Romania remains among the states with the worst performance regarding the corruption index

Most countries have made little to no progress in fighting corruption in the public sector, and Romania still remains among the worst performing states in this regard. A report published by „Transparency International”, with reference to the corruption perception index, shows that our country has 46 points out of a possible 100, very close being Bulgaria, with 45 points and Hungary, with 42. At the top of the ranking is Denmark, Finland and Norway, the countries where corruption is at the lowest level. The ranking was made by awarding points from zero to 100, where zero means very corrupt and 100 means not at all corrupt. „Transperency International” believes that independent, transparent and well-resourced judicial authorities and institutions are essential to keeping corruption under control.

The IMF delegation visits Romania to analyze the latest economic and financial developments

The IMF delegation visiting our country will have a meeting this morning with the Minister of Labor, Simona Bucura-Oprescu, and the discussions will also concern the recalculation of pensions. In a televised intervention, the minister stated that the visit of the Monetary Fund is a regular one, aimed at analyzing the latest economic and financial developments. In this context, Simona Bucura-Oprescu announced that in the months of May-June, pensioners will start receiving the pension recalculation decisions at home, and the actual payment of the new amounts will be made in September. The IMF mission in Romania will end on Thursday, February 1, when a meeting is scheduled with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Finance Minister Marcel Boloș.

Romania will stop voluntary contributions to the UN Agency for Refugees from Palestine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that this year Romania will suspend voluntary contributions to the UN Agency for Refugees from Palestine, following similar decisions taken by several Western states. Israel recently presented evidence that several members of the agency’s staff were involved in terrorist attacks by the Hamas movement on Israel, which occurred on October 7 last year. The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radu Filip, explained that our country is suspending its financial aid until the investigation is completed.
