OECD Economic Survey of Romania
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will present its latest Economic Survey of Romania on Tuesday at the Victoria Palace in the capital Bucharest with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann expected to attend the event. The move comes at a time when Romania’s OECD membership remains one of the country’s strategic tasks, PM Ciolacu said in a statement. The Survey examines Romania’s recent economic performance and assessses policy options aimed at strengthening recovery and sustaining income growth. Secretary General Cormann and Prime Minister Ciolacu will present the Survey at a press conference at the Transylvania Hall in Victoria Palace.
Romania EC Representation chief may become MEP
Ramona Chiriac, the head of the European Commission’s Representation in Romania, may become a MEP as she is the first choice of Romania’s governing coalition for the position. The move came when the coalition mentioned Mrs. Chiriac as a front runner on its list of EP candidates at a meeting late on Monday. Ramona Chiriac became Romania’s EC chief representative in 2021. However, the governing center-left Social Democrat Party (PSD) and the center-right National Liberal Party (PNL) may have separate candidates for the position of Bucharest mayor, according to sources quoted by Radio Romania.
Tate brothers behind bars again
Andrew Tate was detained in Romania under an arrest warrant from British authorithies. Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were detained Monday evening on charges of sexual offences. The two brothers were arrested on charges made between 2012 – 2015 including sexual aggression. “Andrew and Tristan Tate unequivocally deny all allegations and decry what they perceive as an exploitative use of the legal system”, a spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday. “They are fully committed to challenging these accusations with resolve”, the spokesman added.
