The largest festival of technology and innovation in Central and Eastern Europe has opened its doors in the Capital
The largest festival of technology and innovation in Central and Eastern Europe opened its doors today in the Capital. Now in its 8th edition, the event called Bucharest Tech Week will feature relevant speakers from both the country and abroad. They will present a series of solutions dedicated to the business environment. This year, discussions will focus on artificial intelligence and its capabilities, but also better use of these technologies and, last but not least, online safety. Pavel Popescu is vice president of ANCOM (National Authority for Communications Administration and Regulation).
Pavel Popescu: I think that Romania, both at the political level, and at the administrative level, and at the private level, must play an important role. I personally fear, as a father, for my child and how a technological, unstandardized, I wouldn’t say regulated or controlled world could affect the social fabric of each of us. We are extremely concerned today about everything that means illegal content, about everything that means the safety of our children and our citizens in the online environment.
The event will end at the weekend with a technology and innovation exhibition that will take place at Romexpo.
Cătălin Drulă resigned from the position of president of USR
Cătălin Drulă resigned from the position of president of USR, following the poor results obtained by the formation in yesterday’s polls. He announced that he would initiate internal procedures to elect a new party leader.
Cătălin Drula: This result is below the expectations that we and those who entrusted us with their vote had, and of course we could talk about the causes, look for explanations, find excuses or wonder if democracy in Romania there is still democracy, but for me throughout my life, ownership has been a basic principle. I accept this result and will call elections for a new president in the USR as soon as possible. We have strong people and leaders who can take this construction further, and I am thinking here, for example, of Dominic Fritz. It is very important that the USR continues, because in this movement the hopes for the modernization of Romania have been placed.
Voter turnout at the national level in the local elections was just over 50%
Yesterday, Romanians elected their mayors, presidents of county councils, local and county councilors. Voter turnout at the national level in the local elections was slightly over 50%. While waiting for the official results from the Central Electoral Office, the political parties made their own parallel counts. According to them, PSD obtained 24 county councils, PNL- 12, and UDMR 4. In Neamţ, the president of PSD, Daniel Harpa, won the headship of the County Council, after defeating his opponent from PNL, George Lazăr. A similar situation was recorded in Hunedoara, where the social democrats won over the liberals. In Sibiu, on the other hand, continuity is emerging both at the presidency of the County Council and at the City Hall, where Daniela Cîmpean – PNL, respectively Astrid Fodor – Democratic Formula of the Germans will keep their mandates for the next 4 years./aionita
