Repairs have begun on the Bulgarian side of the Friendship Bridge from Giurgiu – Ruse

Repairs started today on the Bulgarian side of the Friendship Bridge from Giurgiu – Ruse, and traffic is carried out on a single lane, alternatively, in a traffic light system. Because of this, the traffic at the border crossing point between Romania and Bulgaria has become congested.
The Giurgiu – Ruse Friendship Bridge over the Danube is one of the most used for freight traffic, but in summer it is preferred by Romanians who go on vacation by car to the neighboring country, Greece or Turkey. Data centralized by the online Traffic application of the Romanian Border Police show that there is a wait of about an hour both in the lanes intended for cars and those for freigh, in both directions of entry and exit from Romania. In order to streamline the traffic, in Giurgiu both the control arteries and the number of border policemen carrying out their activity in the control of travel documents will be supplemented up to the maximum capacity allowed by the infrastructure of the border crossing points. However, it is recommended to use all the crossing points on the Romanian-Bulgarian border.

The opinion poll was conducted in June by INSCOP Research, commissioned by the News.ro press agency, on a sample of 1,100 people, with a maximum allowed data error of +/- 2.95%./aionita
