Romania’s PM supports performance indicators in the public system

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu supports the introduction of performance indicators in the public system, as they are in the private system. He says that the bonus for civil servants who work with European funds will not be cut, but will not be granted during vacation. „I pay, I give you the 50% bonus, but I want to see how many funds you have attracted, how many projects you have unlocked, and this what you have to do on a monthly basis. We went for a 50% bonus to be awarded according to performance. I don’t know how legal it is or has been until now to receive a bonus for attracting European funds on your basic salary when you are on vacation,” said Prime Minister Ciolacu.

Romanian Government focuses on accelerating digitalization of ANAF

The Romanian government does not intend to increase taxes, but will instead focus on speeding up the digitalization of the National Tax Authority (ANAF), increasing budget revenues and reforming public spending. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu after his meeting with representatives of the Concordia Employers’ Confederation at the Victoria Palace on Monday. The Prime Minister emphasized that, starting next year, consultations will be held with the business community on the tax reform and no decision will be taken without consulting it, in order to give entrepreneurs sufficient time to implement new measures. At the end of the meeting, the president of the Concordia Employers’ Confederation, Dan Șucu, said that Prime Minister Ciolacu assured those present at the meeting that taxes would be maintained at the existing level. „We had a two-hour discussion with him and his team. On the fiscal side, yes, it is true, there is talk that there will be no tax increase this year or next year. We sincerely hope that the promise will be kept,” said Dan Șucu.
