Romanian Foreign Minister advises citizens still in Lebanon to leave the country

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest has recommended Romanian citizens since August to avoid any travel to Lebanon, and those who are there are advised to leave the territory of this state using the air routes still available. The travel alert for Lebanon which was raised to level 8 out of 9 was issued considering that the security situation risks deteriorating unpredictably and the availability of commercial flights and travel routes might be affected.

Klaus Iohannis will highlight Romania’s efforts and contributions to solving current global issues, from security crises such as the war in Ukraine or the conflict in the Middle East, to major challenges facing humanity, including the climate emergency.

Romanian customs officers in Zimnicea detained several foreign citizens for illegal border crossing

Twelve citizens from Syria and Afghanistan were detained by customs officers in the Zimnicea area for illegal border crossing. They had crossed the Danube with two motorboats and had been loaded into a van afterwards. The General Inspectorate of the Border Police has announced that the migrants were handed over to the Bulgarian border authorities, according to the readmission agreement. The people were spotted as they were crossing the Danube with motorboats during actions carried out by police officers in the Zimnicea border sector. The driver of the van where the migrants had boarded, a Romanian citizen, is being investigated for migrant trafficking offenses.
