None of the 14 presidential candidates collaborated with the Security, in the sense of making political police (CNSAS)
None of the 14 presidential candidates collaborated with the Security, in the sense of making political police. All of them were checked by CNSAS and only one of the candidates was an employee of the former communist Security, at the Foreign Intelligence Center, but he did not work as a political police either.
The National Council for the Study of Security Archives announced last night that it checked the candidates registered in the race for the presidency, and nine of them, including the main electoral competitors, did not collaborate with the Security and were not employees of this structure. Other four were born after December 1973, being too young to have worked with the former communist repressive body. As regards Silviu Predoiu, former interim director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, CNSAS notes that he too cannot be attributed the status of Security worker within the meaning of the law, i.e. as political police, although, according to the records, was an employee of the Foreign Intelligence Service between 1987 and 1989.
