Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos starts a two-day visit to Canada during which the issue of visa requirements for Romanian nationals travelling to Canada will be the major objective of the visit. During his visit Romanian Prime Minister is scheduled to meet Canada’s Premier Justin Trudeau as well as Canada’s Governor General David Johnston. The program of the visit also includes a meeting with representatives of the Romanian community in Canada. The visit marks the first Romanian-Canadian bilateral meeting at prime ministerial level over the past ten years. Among EU member states Romania and Bulgaria are the only ones for which Canada maintains a visa regime. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
Italy is the main investor in Romania
According to the National Institute of Statistics, trade between Italy and Romania reached over 13 billion euros last year up nearly 9% compared with 2014. The continued growth of trade reflects a strong presence of Italian companies in Romania, Italy being ranked first in our the country regarding the number of companies registered. At the end of last year there were over 24,000 active companies with Italian capital. President of Confindustria Romania Mauro Maria Angelini said that Italian entrepreneurs will continue their activity in Romania. Mauro Maria Angelini: „We feel thet we have to say that relations between Romania and Italy today in 2016 are something that goes beyond the standard relations between two European Union member states”. President of the National Council of Small and Medium-sized Private Enterprises Florin Jianu said that Romania has a stable economic environment and that conditions have been created for foreign entrepreneurs to invest in our country. Cultural collaboration between Romania and Italy is a key factor in the development of bilateral relations, says Italian President Sergio Mattarella in an exclusive interview for Radio Romania. President Mattarella accentuated the importance of cooperation between public radio services in Romania and in Italy. „This collaboration between radio stations is not aleatory”, said Sergio Mattarella. „It is driven by the cultural affinity based on deep links with identity and cultural roots. This link is favored by the intense collaboration between universities in Romania and in Italy. There are over three hundred agreements between cultural institutions of the two countries.” (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
