Simple motion against Romania’s justice minister under parliament debate
A simple motion put forward by opposition parties against Romania’s Justice Minister Tudorel Toader is expected to come under debate in parliament on Monday. „Our motion calls on the minister to firmly comply with recommendations made by the Venice Commission in its Opinion on Emergency Ordinance (EGO 7 2019) concerning amendments to the Law of Justice right after it would go public”, PNL Senator Alina Gorghiu told reporters on Sunday. The amendments triggered dozens of protests in the magistracy last June.
Opening of Romania’s Fish Exchange Market
Romania is expected to open its first Fish Exchange Market in its eastern Danube port of Tulcea on Monday. The €4 million project will help fishermen and fish food producers to improve their presence on market in the field as most major fish markets now mainly deal with wholesale trade, and the existing major fish retail markets around the world continue to operate as much for traditional reasons as for commercial ones. Both types of fish markets are often tourist attractions as well. Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă and Agriculture Minister Petre Daea are expected to attend the event.
