The Romanian Army is delivering supplies to elders in the county of Suceava
The army is delivering around 1,000 packages with food and hygienic supplies to old people in the county of Suceava, badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic. A statement by Defense Ministry says that more than 2,000 servicemen have taken part in actions to counter the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours. At the moment, the Army is guarding more than 80 sites in the country.
More than 4,700 coronavirus cases and 215 deaths were reported in Romania
The coronavirus outbreak has killed 215 people so far in Romania, according to the latest tally. The total number of people infected with COVID-19 has reached 4,761, with 528 declared cured and discharged. As far as Romanians abroad are concerned, 631 are infected with the coronavirus, 400 of them in Italy. Also, 29 Romanians who live in other countries have died so far.
First coronavirus death reported among medical workers in Romania
Romania has seen 14 people killed by the coronavirus outbreak on Tuesday, with first death reported among medical staff – a paramedic at Suceava County Ambulance Service. The 53 year-old man was tested positive on March 30th, but he refused to be admitted to hospital and died at home. At present, official data show that around 700 medical workers in Romania are infected with COVID-19.
