The Mayor of Timişoara says quarantine needs to be implemented in the municipality
The mayor of Timişoara, Dominic Fritz, said that a quarantine needs to be implemented in the municipality, as the number of infections continues to rise and the infection rate reached 7,63 to 1000 inhabitants. He considers that this measure needs to be taken as soon as possible, as in Timişoara COVID patients die because hospitals and especially intensive care units don’t have sufficient beds.
Dominic Fritz: We are in a difficult situation, a situation that is only going to get worse, there are no more free beds in intensive care units in Timişoara and I want everybody to understand clearly what that means. On Sunday night, six people died at Victor Babeş hospital because they couldn’t be transferred to an ICU bed from a normal bed. So, people die today in Timişoara because there are no more ICU free beds. About quarantine in Timişoara, we need to analyze things very well these days to see if we don’t need an emergency break to put a stop to the exponential spread of the virus.
Of the total 343 new cases recorded in Timiş, 200 of them were confirmed today in Timişoara.
