Police officers stand guard on October, 17, 2009 outside the main entrance to the German energy giant E.ON 's Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station, near Nottingham, as protesters are expected to arrive to demonstrate against the company's alleged inaction on climate change. Ten people were arrested on October 17 near the site of one of Britain's biggest coal-fired power stations -- hours before hundreds of climate change protesters were expected to converge at the plant. Activists from three pressure groups -- the Camp for Climate Action, Plane Stupid and Climate Rush -- plan to meet later in the day at the power station and have threatened to break into the site and close it down.
